Colmic Next Adventure 45 rod.

At alders farm on Sunday my weapon of choice for the pellet feeder was a Colmic Next Adventure 45 rod. My reason for this is it's such a soft action Rod.
Meaning I can get away with going as light as an 0.12 hook length and don't need to worry about breaking when playing fish.
The rod has no flat spots at all meaning when you get the fish to netting range, every lunge is cushioned by the rod.
For those that have been to alders farm in Milton Keynes know how hard these fish fight and hook pulls at the net are quite common, So I think this rod just prevents those meaning more fish landed.
I pair this rod up with a 300 Zartan Reel which balances the rod lovely making casting as smooth as possible.
Because I'm only fishing 30m I don't need a great big reel to make a distance so the 300 suits it perfectly.
On previous rods I have had problems with the reel seats slipping after a few hours of use but once you've tightened your reel onto the Next Adventure 45 it doesn't move at all, and at the end of the day, if your fishing a big match or your catching well, the last thing you want is your gear to let you down. Which could prove costly at the end of the match.

Sunday 24th April

Alders Farm spring league round 4.
Peg 19 was my peg.
Started off long and had one first chuck.
Then struggled for a bite.
A few chucks on the pellet feeder saw me have 4 fish.
Then caught well on my short line and finished with 3 down the edge last 40 minutes.
I had 19 carp for 53lb. Putting me 3rd in my section.
56lb was second.
Felt I could of had a few more fish.
Team were joint 1st on the day and are now 4th overall.  Need a good round next weekend! bring it on.
Roll on next weekend.

Saturday 23rd April

Manor farm open.
Peg 6 middle pool.
3 carp and an F1.
Tipped back as was well off.

Sunday 17th April

Back to Manor Farm for the open and a good turnout. 32 people fishing.
15 on middle and 17 on island.
Been fishing manor Farm a lot to try and get as much practice as I can for the festival on the 9th of may.
Anyway onto my match...
I drew peg 20 on middle pool.  It can be a good area if the fish are down that end.
Started my match long on the pole on pellets and for the first hour and a bit only had a few stockies and a tench so was getting worried.
Had a look 13m down my edge to right earlier than I wanted to and began catching a few but they wouldn't settle.
I had to catch 2 fish then feed it again and move to my other pole line or the Waggler and nick one fish.
I continued doing this till 2:00 when I spent the last hour and a half down the edge and caught quite well.
Best hour was between 2 and 3 o'clock.
I managed around 16 carp and 4 F1s for 141-0-0 to win the match!
Really looking forward to the festival now and hope I have some good draws!!!

Saturday 16th April.

Manor farm open.
Peg 16 island.
38-0-0
3rd in section.
No good.

Sunday 10th April

Round 3 of the alders farm spring league with team colmic.
At the team draw I opted to go in section C.
The hardest section whereby lower weights are required.
Peg 11 was to be my home for the day.  I had a nice long margin to my left where I fancied I may of caught.
Started off long at 13m fishing pellets.
Looking round it was clear all the fish wanted to be in the shallow water. (Other end of the lake)
So with this in mind. I decided to look down the edge with this being the shallowest part of my peg and began getting a few bites.
I fed micro pellets and fished either a 4mm expander or double maggot on the hook.
At 2 o'clock it was clear the whole lake switched off and no one  was catching. I thought around 8/9 fish was winning my section and I had 10. So hoped for a good last hour down the edge.
Between 2:00 till 3:00 was by far the best hour of my match. They seemed to rock up and I caught 9 in the last hour.
Leaving me with 19 carp for 44lb and a section win giving me maximum points.
As a team we ended up 4th on the day of which was a difficult draw and this leaves us 3rd overall (I think) so a good draw is needed next round!!!

Saturday 9th April

Manor farm open. Island and middle pool. 18 fishing.
I did fancy drawing on island as it's one of my favourite lakes but middle is good and normally wins.
In the draw bag and out came 26 on middle.
This is a good area and last time I drew 25 middle I won the match.
After getting to my peg my approach was clear.
Bomb.
Waggler.
X4 pole rigs:
1 on the deck at 13m
1 half depth
1 shallow rig
1 edge rig.
Started on the bomb and had an f1 within 20 minutes and no one had caught. I then had a look on my 13m deck line and began catching a few f1s steadily but was getting liners so increased the pinging.  I went shallow and had a few fish but wasn't prolific.
I then started to struggle to catch so went out on the Waggler where I'd been pinging 6mm pellets and caught well on this for 2 and a half hours.
I then began feeding my edge line and had a look on this at 2:00 without a bite.
So went back out on the Waggler and hoped I'd catch late down the edge. I continued to put another 5 f1s in the net before going down the edge last 40 minutes.
In those 40 minutes I managed to catch 6 carp down the edge.
I managed to weigh 116-0-0 for 1st overall!

Sunday 3rd April.

Alders spring league round 2.
Peg 21 on ash lake.
5 of the best pegs on the lake in my section so felt I needed to catch really well, this wasn't the case,
Weighed 31-0-0 for last in my section!
Must try harder.

Saturday 2nd March.

Manor farm open, peg 13 windmill, I drew peg 16 on Wednesday and it fished really hard so I kept that in mind.
Started off on the pole at 13m on pellets, and had a steady first 30 minutes. But it was clear it wasn't fishing great.
I had a feeling I may of caught shallow so I started to increase my pinging and then spent the rest of the day shallow. I had to work really hard for my fish.
I had 4 chub shallow on pellet and around 12 F1s to weigh 54-0-0 putting me 2nd overall.

Tuesday 5 April 2016

Thursday 31st March.

Peg 25 middle pool at manor farm.
Really like this peg.
Caught ealrly on the deck on the pole. Then had a few on the waggler and finished on the pole at 13m.
Weighed 74-14-0,
Put me second overall.

Wednesday 30th March.

Peg 16 windmill.
Struggled all day for 27-4-0.
27-8-0 won the section.

Monday 28th March

Day 3 of my 3 day weekend.
Back to manor farm for the open match and was praying for a draw.
For the past 6 months I've been fishing manor farm I've always wanted to draw peg 6 on island.
And today was that day!
It hasn't won a match for ages but I felt it was worth a few bites.
I only kitted up rods as it's an out and out feeder peg.
I spent the first hour on the feeder tight to the island and had 3 fish for around 12lb.
The next 1 and a half hours I spent 3/4 the way across on the Same feeder and put a further 15 fish in the net.
At the half way stage I had been priming a bomb line all day and dropped on it to only catch a stockie so back out to the island for 1 more.
30 minutes later I dropped back on my bomb line and it was solid!
Caught really well last 1 hour and 30 on this.
I think leaving it till late on was best as I could prime it and get them feeding confidently.
I clicked 37 fish in total.
To weigh 119-0-0 enough for 1st overall.
Had a really nice day just fishing a simple rod match and learnt loads!
Roll on next time!
